I’ve been making quite a few earring tutorials on my YouTube channel lately, and I thought I’d gather some of them here in one place. Summer feels like the right time for lightweight, colorful earrings, and macrame is perfect for that.

All of these are beginner-friendly. Some are more boho, others are a bit playful, but they all come with step-by-step videos so you can follow along.

1. DIY Macrame Cowrie Shell Earrings

These shell earrings have a relaxed, coastal vibe. The combination of macrame knots and cowrie shells gives them that boho chic look that works well for summer.

The design is simple enough for beginners but looks more intricate once finished. I walk through each step so you can see exactly how the knots come together.

2. Easy Boho Macrame Earrings

If you’re new to macrame jewelry, this is a good place to start. These earrings use simple knots and come together quickly. They’re the kind of project you can finish in one sitting.

The design is lightweight and airy, which makes them comfortable to wear all day. You can also play with different colors to match your style.

3. DIY Shell Macrame Earrings

Shells are a classic summer material, and they work beautifully with macrame. This tutorial shows you how to combine shells with knotted cord to create earrings that feel organic and handmade.

The shells I used are small and lightweight, so the earrings don’t pull on your ears. You can use shells you’ve collected yourself or buy them from a craft store.

4. Macrame Watermelon Earrings 

These are a bit more playful. Watermelon earrings are fun and colorful, perfect for summer parties or just adding a pop of color to a simple outfit.

The design uses a combination of red, green, white and black cord to create the watermelon look. 

For most of these earrings, you’ll need just a few basic supplies:

• Waxed macrame cord (various colors)
• Earring hooks (findings)
• Jump rings
• Scissors
• A lighter (for sealing ends)
• Shells or beads (depending on the design)
